CHRSC Farm to School Initiative
The CHRSC's Carolina Kids Farm to School Program is designed to bridge the gap between students and local agriculture, providing hands-on learning experiences that foster a deeper understanding of food, health, and sustainable practices. Through this initiative, students engage directly with the farming process—from planting and harvesting to preparing and tasting fresh, nutritious foods. The program promotes the following goals:

Nutrition Education: By connecting students with fresh, locally grown produce, the program encourages healthy eating habits and teaches children about the benefits of balanced nutrition.
Agricultural Literacy: Students learn about sustainable farming techniques, the importance of supporting local food systems, and the environmental impact of food choices.
Community Engagement: Partnerships with local farmers and community volunteers are essential to the program, helping to build a strong network of support for local agriculture and education.
STEM Learning: The farm activities integrate science, technology, engineering, and math principles, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings.

With a hands-on curriculum and experiential learning at its core, the Carolina Kids Farm to School Program is a cornerstone of CHRSC's mission to empower youth and strengthen the community through educational initiatives.
