A Student's Journey: Learning and Growing with Our Farm to School Program

At Carolina Human Reinvestment’s Farm to School program, we’re thrilled to see students thriving and connecting with sustainable agriculture firsthand. Recently, one of our students shared her experience with us. She spoke passionately about the lessons learned on the farm—about growing

fresh produce, teamwork, and the joy of nurturing plants from seed to harvest. Through this program, students gain skills in both gardening and nutrition, laying the foundation for lifelong healthy habits. It’s inspiring to see how young learners are not only acquiring knowledge but also developing a deep appreciation for the land and our food systems.

Our Farm to School program is more than just an educational experience; it's a transformative journey that fosters resilience, responsibility, and a sense of community. We look forward to sharing more stories of growth from our students, each one reminding us why this work is so meaningful. #TeachFeedSucceed: Our holistic approach to mentoring and growing future community leaders makes our program unique. As the community garden grows, so do the gardeners. While teaching and feeding our youth, we take pride in watching them grow into successful adults and important assets for our community. Through health, education, environment, and local ecological sustainability, we provide a cultural and social space for the community while addressing a multitude of issues.  We bridge and welcome all age and socioeconomic groups of Georgetown County and surrounding communities.
